Developing Teachers in Coaching
Course Objectives
- Describe and apply appropriately the basic principles of coaching.
- Observe and identify target behaviours in a teacher’s performance from a model for developing effective teaching practice.
- Decide on an appropriate personal state for coaching and have a strategy which reliably achieves it.
- Assess accurately the level of rapport and have developed simple strategies which can effectively increase rapport.
- Set a framework for a coaching relationship which is suitable for building confidence and trust.
- Evaluate, modify, agree and coach to achieve appropriate coaching outcomes.
- Observe targeted behaviours and provide sensory based non-directive feedback .
- Use language in feedback sessions which is non-judgemental and appropriate to non-directive coaching.
- Develop and assess the effectiveness of a process for organising coaching.
